about us
The Northstar Mohs & Skin Surgery Difference
Built on trust, driven by excellence.
Evidence-Based Care, Always
Our recommendations are grounded in evidence-based medicine, validated research, and clinical guidelines, not trends, external pressures, or profit motives. We explain your diagnosis, review the relevant findings with you, and outline each treatment option in clear terms, including expected outcomes and risks. The goal is informed, shared decision-making, just as we’d want for our own family.
Surgical excellence, fellowship-trained expertise
Your care is led by a fellowship-trained Mohs and reconstructive surgeon with advanced, procedure-specific expertise. Meticulous technique, evidence-based protocols, and rigorous quality standards optimize oncologic control and aesthetic-functional outcomes.
Clear, Direct, and Compassionate
We walk you through what we see and why it matters. We explain the findings and their relevance to your case, review evidence, and outline options with benefits, risks, and trade-offs. Clear, jargon-free guidance supports informed, shared decision-making.
Right-Sized Treatment
We aim for the best oncologic and aesthetic outcomes with the least disruption to your life. We avoid interventions that create more problems than they solve. No scars worse than the cancer, no treatments more taxing than the disease. Every plan balances benefit, risk, recovery, and quality of life to protect your health and restore confidence.
Individualized Care for Real Lives
Behind every diagnosis is a person with priorities, responsibilities, and concerns. Whether you’re managing complex immunosuppression or simply need to return to work quickly, we tailor care to your medical needs and personal context, because both matter.
Accountability & Excellence
Excellence requires ownership. When something isn’t right, we address it, correct it, and learn from it. Continuous improvement and rigorous standards guide our work because you deserve care that is both competent and conscientious.
What You Actually Experience at Northstar Mohs
We begin with timely scheduling and provide clear instructions, so you know exactly what to prepare for.
On the day of your procedure, you can expect an on-time appointment and a thorough consultation where your diagnosis is explained with visual aids. We will walk you through every step of the Mohs procedure, discuss your treatment options, and prioritize your comfort with effective pain management. When indicated, reconstruction is performed the same day.
You will leave with transparent aftercare instructions and direct contact information for any concerns, ensuring you feel supported throughout your recovery.

Our Story: A Legacy of Care, Grown Through Trust
Proudly part of Northstar Dermatology, our practice is led by a Harvard-trained dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon dedicated to serving our community.
Northstar Mohs & Skin Surgery is part of the Northstar family of practices, founded in 2010 by Dr. Sina Aboutalebi. What began as a single-provider clinic in North Texas has become a trusted name in dermatologic care. Our growth has never been driven by advertising or hype; it is built on the word-of-mouth trust that comes from consistently delivering excellent, honest, and patient-centered care.
When Dr. Amir Aboutalebi joined the Northstar family, he brought with him the same values that have defined our practice from day one: excellence, integrity, and genuine care for every person we treat. After years of practicing as a dermatologist, Dr. Aboutalebi pursued advanced fellowship training in Mohs micrographic surgery and reconstruction. This allows us to provide the highest standard of skin cancer treatment right here in our community.
